Gilles de Rais was a french noble man and was highly educated in military discipline and intellectual development. The army Gilles de Rais fought in was lead by Joan of arc, he served as a captain or a lieutenant. It is even rumored that he was a personal body guard for Joan of arc. In 1430 he became a marshal of France, which is the highest military award given in France. Gilles de Rais was also one of the richest men alive in France, at one point even surpassing the king. |
VictimsGilles de Rais mainly enjoyed killing young boys with blond hair and blue eyes. He would also make do with young girls if young boys were in short supply. Gilles de Rais killed any were between 80-200, some even estimating as high as 600-800 children died by his hand. After killing his victims Gilles de Rais would apparently have his servants throw them in a giant fireplace and burn them. The victims family did get closure because on October 26, 1440 he was found guilty and hanged.
